Kaleidoscopic Key Demo

To begin the story of the Kaleidoscopic Key demo, I should start by sharing some source material: a piece of electronic music I made around 2016 called “Ascending Neon Trench Layers." I thought it was kind of weird when I made it because it changes moods suddenly, and didn't seem to fit my regular electronic music patterns. I spent a lot of time on it though, and I felt like it might be worth something.

Basically, the bass and piano riff that starts at 1:30 is the same as the middle section in Kaleidoscopic Key.

I was reluctant at first, but I showed my song to Dana, my best friend and musical partner. He liked the middle section, and we started talking about maybe replacing the synths with real instruments. The next morning I left him with my computer for a few hours and when I came back he had encircled my riff with the rest of Kaleidoscopic Key, inputing every note into my computer with MIDI. We got together that night to touch some things up like song form and a few notes, and this is the demo we came up with that night.
