About Sunset Mission

Sunset Mission is a Boston-based independent progressive music project led by drummer Dana and guitarist Jan. Primarily a studio-focused endeavor, Sunset Mission thrives on collaboration, working with a wide array of guest singers and musicians to bring their ambitious compositions to life.

The live lineup features vocalist and guitarist Kim, keyboardists Jesse and Cal, guitarist Colin, and new Bassist Aidan (not pictured), who bring the project’s expansive sound to the stage with vibrant energy and precision.

The roots of Sunset Mission trace back to Dana and Jan's early teens, when they formed the rock band Conundrum Nine. As their musical style evolved, incorporating more progressive elements and a larger, more intricate sound, they decided to change the band's name to reflect their new artistic direction—thus, Sunset Mission was born.

Since debuting in 2019 with the prog adventure "Journey To Lunar Castellum", Sunset Mission has continued to evolve its artistry. When the world paused in 2020, the project returned to the studio, emerging with the immersive 16-minute epic "Eternal Flight" in 2021—a testament to their dedication to pushing musical boundaries. In 2022, they released the rock EP "There's Always a River", which maintained their progressive edge while exploring a grittier sound.

Currently, Sunset Mission is hard at work on their next album, which is anticipated to release in 2025. As an independent project, the band takes pride in doing everything themselves, from writing and arranging to recording and mixing. This upcoming work promises to further expand their musical horizons, offering fans new journeys to embark upon.
